Summer Programs
Harvard Summer School (HSS)
Q: Which HSS courses can count for concentration credit?
Only those in the concentration electives category. HSS courses cannot be taken to satisfy the introductory biology requirement or the 100-level (advanced course) requirement. Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics courses are routinely accepted to meet concentration requirements.
Other HSS courses will be considered by petition on a case-by-case basis. HSS course grades are not counted in calculating Honors levels. Their website is http://summer.harvard.edu
Summer Research Programs
Q: What summer programs are available if I am interested in, for example, marine biology, ecology, fieldwork, or research abroad?
A: Advisors will be in a unique position to advise based on their specialties. The Office of Career Services is a great source of information. The biology bulletin boards in and around the Biology Undergraduate Office are brimming with information.
Q: Can I get course credit for research done over the summer?
A: No.
